On August 2, 2011 I chose to created the Facebook Group Page "You know you're from Columbus Oh If..." Although there were many developing and I take no created for the initial idea of "You know you are from..." I chose to create this page for the true heart of Columbus: the people. I didn't want to be one of those people who says "Oh I should" or "What if?" I wanted to ACTUALLY follow through. The impact that the group page has had on Columbus is truly exciting and inspiring. It reignited a passion in its citizens at home and abroad. The stories and memories shared on the group page have sparked a spirit of nostalgia that would give an overseas solider "homesickness" a run for its money. The page will always remain activated and will continuously be a place "you" can come home. The "You know you're from Columbus OH if..." Facebook group page has created and atmosphere that you obtain from sitting on the porch with your friends until the street lights calls you home, the setting of a sleepover with your closest girlfriends, the barbershop or street corner convos with your homeboys, high school reunions, family reunions and your chance run-ins at the local bank, neighborhood stores and/or annual festivals. It wont stop at the page I promise you. Although many pages might be similar on the surface doesn't necessarily mean they mirror behind the scenes. It is important to me to preserve the true idea and spirit of why the "You know you're from Columbus Oh If..." group page was initially created.
Columbus is MY city, I love MY city and despite anything negative it STILL remains MY HOMETOWN, MY HEART, MY PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. I am truly one of Columbus' daughters and I'm very proud of that, I don't want that fact to get lost in the shuffle of multiple websites and group pages. The key reasons that made this page desirable in the first place are: the stories it holds, the history, and the LOVE.
"YOU KNOW YOU ARE FROM COLUMBUS,OHIO IF......" IS A MEETING PLACE TO REMINISCE AND CHAT IT UP ABOUT COLUMBUS,OHIO,IF YOU EVER WANT TO COME HOME BUT CAN'T AFFORD A TICKET OR THE GAS,ITS JUST A SHORT TRIP BACK TO THIS PAGE. IT WILL REMAIN UP FOR THOSE WHO JUST EVER FEEL LIKE TAKING A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE!! :) JUST LIKE COLUMBUS, YOUR ALWAYS WELCOME BACK/HOME :)

Ponder This (Playmate VS Soulmate)
In our quest for happiness we must be sure that we don't
settle for a Playmate when God has a Soulmate waiting for us. Sometimes
this is a hard distinction to make. Playmates are tricky. They are so
much fun to be with that even the smartest of us will be fooled into
thinking this has to be our Soulmate. Worse yet too many of us attempt
to make a Soulmate out of a Playmate.
The danger of this is that later, after years of playing
we will meet our Soulmate, but it may be too late. We may have already
made a Lifemate of our Playmate and created life-long bonds (emotional,
children, etc.). Or we may have been hurt from playing so hard that we
are in no shape ourselves to be anyone's anything.
How can we distinguish between The One, and just another
one? First, we must be open with ourselves about who we really are and
what our soul yearns for. Only you and God know what is truly in your
heart and mind. Only you know what will make you truly happy and whole.
In order to find your Soulmate you have to know you, first. You must be
willing to listen to that inner voice. And is that voice telling you
that the nerdy person you enjoy talking and sharing your thoughts with,
could be The One? What about that friend who is always willing to go the
extra mile for you when no one else will?
Oh no! He's too short or too tall, balding or too hairy,
and on and on? Just too ordinary looking for me! Then there's that guy
who makes you feel so special when you're around him, but he doesn't
match that idea you have conjured in your head. He's too short, not
slender enough, not light or dark enough, not in shape enough, not
attractive enough, and on and on. He just couldn't
be for me! So what if he doesn't look like Denzel
Washington or Harry Belafonte? Is he going to treat you like the jewel
that you are?
Not only that, his soul and yours will commune in ways
you never imagined possible! In order to heed that voice, we have to put
on the back burner our own superficial thinking. Could it be that your
inner desire is for a truly genuine person with a good heart?
If you enjoy playing, stay on the playground. There are
plenty of Playmates out there to occupy your time. But don't spend too
much time playing or you may play your life away. Eventually the playing
loses it appeal and your soul begins to crave a deeper, more meaningful
connection. Your soul begins to crave your Soulmate.
